Pans, Sluices, Hand Tools, and accessories
this page is under construction
We would like to design our store a little differently from most other online retail outlets because we are not only a store...we are prospectors and use the items that we sell. Therefore we may not carry every available variety of tool or accessory. We will only carry and sell what we consider to be the "best stuff" with our stamp of approval from actual use in the field. ......rf
Pans
A 14" pan is a good size to start with. We carry the Proline in blue and Garrett in green. It is extremely difficult to see black sands in a black pan; therefore we don't sell black pans. Also, gold is easily lost from metal pans, so they are available by special order only.
The 14" Proline has an extra riffle and a wide flat bottom which is excellent if you like to use the "backwash" technique for cleaning that last little bit of black sand from your gold.

We recommend the 10" Garrett as a "finish pan". Finish pans are used for that final separation process to remove your gold flakes from black sand.

The Garrett Panning Kit is an excellent way to start your hobby. It contains the 14" and 10" pans, a good 1/2" classifier, a snuffer bottle, two gold vials, and an instruction booklet.
Accessories and Hand Tools
This plastic scoop is an excellent tool for crevicing, sniping, metal detecting, or feeding a wheel or recirculating sluice.
Hodan Picks:
We carry the full line of Hodan products. We have known John Hodan for over 20 years and have used his picks for almost that long. His pick is one of the best in the industry and will easily outlast other picks several times over. It is a strong, medium duty - light weight pick that will handle most digging situations. The shovel attachment is sold separately and comes in real handy for digging those deeper holes. Plus, the shovel blade can be carried separately in your backpack and only attached when needed.
Walco Picks:
The Walco is an extremely sturdy, well made pick from Australia. They are suited for digging those deeper holes (for those of you who swing a Minelab SD/GP). They would also be suited for "pickin' and grinin" in a highbank operation or any place where you need a serious tool. Slightly more expensive, but well worth the investment (unless you are prone to leaving tools on the creek bank for someone else).
Hipstick:
Here's a new item that has just come into the store. We've tested this item, but will leave it to our customers to make the final judgment as to how useful it is to each person. The hipstick is designed to transfer the weight of your detector and coil from your shoulder to your waste or hip. I can see this as a big advantage to the person with limited movement in his shoulder or pain in the elbow or shoulder as associated with arthritis. Shown in the photos the hipstick is being used with Doc's heavy duty adjustable bungie....a real good combination.
Prices:
We make every effort to keep our prices low, and believe that our prices will be within 5% or so of the lowest prices you can find on the web and sometimes lower depending upon the item. We are aware that with online stores it is easier than ever before to shop and compare prices. Please keep in mind that prices on some websites may be outdated so don't be fooled by outdated prices. Please feel free to call us for a price quote over the phone.
Our goal is not to be the biggest online store. Our goal is to represent items honestly and sell products at a fair price. Only items that have been proven to work well in the field will be offered, and each customer will receive information and instruction if necessary to help them become successful. We value our customers, and will go out of our way for them. That is our guarantee. If this kind of commitment from a retailer sounds good to you, please feel free to become one of our customers. Thank you .....rf
